Intel Celeron N3060

The Intel Celeron N3060 is a low-end dual-core SoC for notebooks. The processor cores are based on the Airmont architecture, which is basically a slightly modified shrink of the previous Silvermont core. While performance per clock has not been improved, the more efficient 14 nm process leads to a better utilization of the CPU Burst (alias Turbo Boost) and a therefore somewhat higher overall performance.                The  HD Graphics 400 (Braswell)  is based on the Intel Gen 8 architecture, which supports DirectX 11.2 and is also found in the Broad well series (e.g.  HD Graphics 5300 ). With 12 EUs (Execution Units) and a clock speed of up to 600 MHz, the GPU is almost twice as fast as the  HD Graphics (Bay Trail) , but still not powerful enough to handle modern 3D games. The dual-core chips are clocked at 1.6 GHz base speed. The boost speed on the N3050 goes up to 2.16 GHz, while the N3060 can g...

AMD Athlon II X2 260 Dual Core Processor

The AMD Athlon II X2 260 (P/N ADX2600CK23GM) is the fastest dual core processor in the Athlon II series. The AMD Athlon II series of processors is a very budget friendly series of processors. This processor sports the new Socket AM3 938-pin micro-PGA package so it will work in all Socket AM3 and AM2 motherboards with both DDR2/DDR3 memory solutions. The AMD Athlon II X2 260 features a nice and low TDP of only 65 Watts, which will make it easy to keep nice and cool. Enough techno-babble let’s take a look at how it performs.    Coming clocked at 3.2 GHz the AMD Athlon II X2 260 features two megabytes of L2 cache shared between two cores. This differs from the Athlon II X4 series as the X4’s share the two megabytes across all four cores in a 4×512 kilobytes pattern. Having more L2 cache per core will help in lightly threaded application. The AMD Athlon II X2 260 also features support for both DDR2 (up to 1,066 MT/s) and DDR3 (up to 1,333 MT/s). The Athlon II series is AMD’...

LG Chromebase

The Chromebase is simply a Chromebox built into a monitor. The 21.5-inch In-Plane Switching (IPS) display has a 1,920-by-1,080 resolution. Standard features include built-in Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and an Ethernet port. There are also three USB 2.0 ports in the back (two of which will be occupied by the keyboard and mouse), a USB 3.0 port on the side, and an HDMI-in for external devices. The machine is powered by a 1.4 GHz Intel Celeron 2955 U processor with 2 GB of DDR3L memory. The Chromebase can be used as a standalone monitor.              The stand comes in three pieces that need to be snapped together and secured with the included screws. There's a single USB 3.0 port and a headset jack on the front right edge of the system. Above the display is a built-in HD webcam, which captures video at 720p. Just below the display are buttons for adjusting the system's display brightness and audio volume, powering the syst...

Dell Inspiron 3000

The Dell Inspiron 3000 Series i3847-4617BK comes equipped with a 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5-4460 processor, a dual-core processor that functions like a quad-core thanks to Intel’s Hyper-Threading Technology, which allows each of the two cores to handle two different computing threads simultaneously. The system offers more performance, storage and features than other systems at this price point, including some full size systems.       In the front panel's upper right corner, we’ll find the power button paired with an indicator light. The bottom of the panel wears a Dell logo. Around back, there find HDMI, VGA, and three audio ports, along with an Ethernet connector and a power port. Three more USB ports nest here as well, giving the 3000 a total of five, only one of which is a USB 3.0 port. The Inspiron 3000 Series is set on a 14.45-by-6.89-by-17.32- inch (HWD) chassis, which is ideal for locations where space is limited. The front of the matte-black chassis has a g...
